Life can take us on the strangest paths. One minute, you’re on top of the world, basking in positivity and confidence; the next minute, you’re at the wrong place at the wrong time, you’ve made a choice that you later come to regret, or you’re blamed for something you didn’t do. In the U.S., these various paths of life sometimes wind through the criminal justice system. You or someone you love may be on one of these paths. You or someone you love may be faced with criminal charges, wondering if your fortunes will ever turn.
The justice system can be a complex creature, threatening to overwhelm your best efforts at taming it. Just because you are innocent until proven guilty and have certain natural protections under the law does not mean that the cards aren’t stacked against someone accused of a crime. Fair and just treatment for criminal defendants is my passion; I’m here to help clear a path for you and your loved ones to receive fair and favorable treatment under the law.
For more than 40 years, I have fought aggressively and passionately on behalf of people who have found themselves on the wrong path, for one reason or another. As a criminal defense attorney based in Newark, I also service Clifton, East Orange, West Orange, Montclair, and all surrounding areas where I have worked with those charged with criminal offenses since 1985. The emotions and stress that come with a criminal charge can feel overwhelming, but every single person has a right to fairness, a good defense, and freedom, and I will fight for you to achieve all. Types of Criminal Cases
Criminal cases and the laws that surround them are as varied as the types of clients I have worked with in my offices. The typical penalties for crime in New Jersey can range anywhere from a minor citation to something much weightier. Some common types of criminal conduct include:
- Domestic violence
- Gun Charges
- Drug Charges
- Credit Card Fraud
- DWI (Driving While Intoxicated)
- Sexual Assault
- Disorderly Conduct
In each of these types of conduct, there are several definitions and provisions regarding that category. These provisions may be different depending on the state. For instance, in New Jersey, refusing any chemical testing for DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) is grounds for automatic suspension of your license. Once your license has been suspended in New Jersey, this cannot be undone; no conditional driver’s licenses can be issued. Making you aware of these conditions, and others like them, is one of the roles of an experienced criminal defense attorney.
I serve the needs of clients in Montclair, West Orange, East Orange, Clifton, Newark, and throughout the state of New Jersey.
